For Immediate Release – December 8, 2020

RoughRiders Hockey Club Cedar Rapids (RRHC) and the City of Solon are proud to announce the first session of Instructional Program (IP) coming to the Solon outdoor rink in January, 2021.

Solon, in conjunction with RoughRiders Hockey Club, provides the City of Solon area youth with a positive atmosphere that supports a fair and competitive environment. Ice hockey is used as the vehicle to promote sportsmanship, integrity, self-esteem, dedication, and commitment as a foundation for growth, both as an individual and as a member of the community.

Emphasis will always be placed upon family, education, personal development, community, diversity, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The proper and positive conduct of board members, coaches, volunteers, players, and parents will be maintained to ensure a positive culture and a dignified organization of which we can all be proud.

Above all … it is all about the kids.

The goal of the Instructional Program – Solon is to provide the opportunity to new to hockey families to play for a low or no cost at all. Practices will consist of Fundamentals such as skating, pucks skills, and a healthy dose of small area games that incorporate hockey concepts.

“We are extremely appreciative for the City of Solon to be able to offer an opportunity to partner with them to grow the game of hockey. Hockey and our culture at RRHC have had a positive effect on our current member families and we look forward to sharing and welcoming new families to the local hockey community,” said Executive Director of RRHC Dustin Timm.
