For Immediate Release
July 9, 2024

Hello RoughRiders Family,

I wanted to give a few updates on where we are for the upcoming season. We are undergoing some backend changes that have delayed the opening of registration for the travel hockey season. We are targeting July 20th for the opening of our registration. We are currently finalizing our updated policies and code of conduct, along with a new website and backend, as the RoughRiders Sports Club in its entirety is leaving TeamSnap. We are just awaiting the development and finalization of the website and backend to open registration. This should be completed by the end of this weekend, and then we will work diligently to finalize and update any old information that was transferred from our current site to the new one.

Neck Guards

As of August 1st, all players that participate in a USAH sanctioned event will need a neck guard. This includes all RRHC Dedicated Talent or High School programming from August 1st onward.

What you can do now to prepare for registration opening:

Jersey Fittings

We will offer three different uniforms and pre-game apparel fittings. This is our 3rd year with our uniforms and apparel, so we have two more years. Use this information to decide whether to get new jerseys. For example:

  • My player’s jerseys and/or apparel still fit but are tight, so with two years left on these designs, it makes sense to order up a size or two.

There are no changes to the current uniform number or apparel policy coming (pg. 18).

Tuition Fees & Fundraising

Every year, the Executive Board and I must forecast upcoming operating costs and revenue based on previous years of operation. As a club, every program – RYHL, IP, tournaments, camps, lessons, travel, tuition fees, and/or skills – plays a part in balancing the budget. More importantly, fundraising plays a pivotal role in this as well. This could be the golf fundraiser, wreaths, HundredX, Edgewood, or any other fundraiser that our club or teams do. We must project the efforts of our club and the fundraiser efforts. Some years we have done great and tuition has stayed level, and some years we did not do such a great job and had to raise fees. The 2023-2024 fundraising efforts were good, and with no ice fee increase happening this summer, our travel tuition fees will remain the same. Nicely done, and hopefully, we can keep moving forward in the right direction here.
