RoughRiders Hockey Club strives to provide a home to all youth hockey players. RoughRiders Hockey Club offers Travel, House and Instructional Hockey. We hope to provide a home to anyone who is interested to join this great sport! Check out our programs!
Our Mission & Vision
RRHC (RoughRiders Hockey Club) seeks to build local and regional awareness about the benefits youth hockey offers by investing in the physical and emotional development of players so they may serve as advocates and ambassadors for the sport throughout their lives.
The mission of RRHC is to provide a consistent training framework and environment designed to optimize the skill development of young athletes in a positive atmosphere of appropriately matched competition where sportsmanship and personal enjoyment are the top priorities.
Our History
Formed in 2002 when two organizations combined, RRHC is a 501 (c)3 organization. RRHC is a member of the Mid-West Amateur Hockey Association (MWAHA) comprised of associations from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. RRHC is a member of USA Hockey.
Governing Core Values
RRHC is governed by a Board of Directors, but directed by the Director of Hockey Operations. At all times the BOD and HD are guided by the core values in the decision making processes. We are committed to offering a consistent and valuable experience for every player, every family, and every volunteer.
Coaches
RRHC relies on great coaching, and coaching is a rewarding way positively impact lives of young athletes. We provide training and lesson materials which enable all of our coaches to be successful, so if you have the skill and confidence to lead and encourage kids, then you already have what it takes to be a great coach!
Our Teams
Teams may vary each season, although in most years RRHC stives to offer two co-ed teams at the High School, 14U, 12U, 10U, and 8U level.
Our Program
Travel Team Tryouts are generally held mid-August each year, with the season beginning October 1 and running through the end of February. Players are welcome to join teams any time before December 31st, per USA Hockey Roster rules. Interested players should contact Hockey Director Dustin Timm, to discuss placement and fees.
Additional Information:
- Financial consideration may be granted to families in need of assistance. See the scholarship page for more information.
- Payment of fees is generally broken into three installments payable throughout the season.
- Parent volunteering is necessary to run the all-volunteer travel hockey program. See the volunteer page for details.
RRHC offers a house hockey program, the RoughRider Youth Hockey League (RYHL), as an alternative for Travel hockey. Players can expect to play games against like-skilled opponents, teams generally change every week. Players of any level can join this program which runs year round. This program works in tandem with our Instructional Program (IP) which provides an hour of instruction by RRHC coaches to these players.
RRHC has some used equipment in stock, available to players who from time to time forget equipment. Equipment may also be loaned out for more extended periods of time if necessary.
